The Arizona Upland division of the Sonoran desert is famous all over the world thanks to inumerable cowboy movies. It is unusually diverse for a desert, and is dominated by a variety of cacti, most notably the giant saguaro, but also chollas and prickly pears. The region is also characterised by a tree - the green-stemmed, feathery-leaved palo verde.
